Why PhoenixFixes?

Picking a business name is a daunting thing. I probably went through a half a dozen ideas before the name came to me. I am a follower of Jesus Christ that also happens to be a bit of a fantasy nerd. There is a promise in Isaiah 63 that the Lord will restore the destruction of His people’s lives; He will give them beauty for ashes. According to mythology, this majestic fire bird is born from its own ashes. The Phoenix is a great reminder to me of the promises of God; in the midst of this life of trials, disappointments, heartaches, and suffering God is making something beautiful out of it. Like our lives, our homes also need phoenix fixes. Our homes wear down and need repairs. It is my joy to be able to take the broken or unfinished parts of your home (ashes) and create something beautiful (phoenix).

Who we are.

One of the questions I get all the time is, “How did you learn how to do this?” First, I could not have gotten here without the love and support of my incredibly beautiful and amazing wife and my five awesome kids. They always gave me the drive to make things better for them and to work harder to be a man they could respect.

Secondly, the major learning happened when I worked for the 84 Lumber Company. There I learned how houses are built and what goes into them to make them stand strong and look great. With amazing employee discounts I built my wife farmhouse living room tables for her birthday; from there I realized that I loved building things. Since then I have built many pieces of furniture and remodeled rooms. Every time I come to a new challenge I am excited to learn a new skill or learn how to do something better the second time.

Lastly, I had so many friends who encouraged me to get into this field. For the longest time I fought it because I loved doing this as my hobby. But who says doing a loved hobby can’t also be used to bless others and provide for my family? So let me bless you with great service as you bless my family!
